Who Will Be Crowned Burger Battle Champs?

ORLANDO, FL, June 3, 2014 — Eating perfectly prepared burgers may not sound like much of a challenge. But don’t tell that to the Orlando City Firefighters or the players from the Arena Football League’s Orlando Predators. On Wednesday, June 18, from 7-9 p.m., the firefighters and football players will go head-to-head during Smokey Bones Bar & Fire Grill’s 4th annual nationwide Burger Battle. It’s a four-against-four timed relay, with the team who consumes the specialty burgers the fastest taking home the title of Burger Battle Champs. And along with the bragging rights, comes a larger cash prize for the team’s charity – with the firefighters competing for the Children’s Burn Foundation and the Predators battling for Summer of Dreams. Plus, the fastest team in the country will win the title of National Burger Battle Champions and will receive an additional cash donation from Smokey Bones of $5,000. Second and third place nationwide winners will get an additional $2,500 and $1,000 for their charities, respectively.

Smokey Bones has made June the month when it features its lineup of specialty burgers. It has created the Burger Battle as a way for guests to try different burger offerings – like the limited-time-only menu with three TABASCO®-Infused Burgers on the Bayou and the Build Your Own Burger feature with 30+ toppings to choose from – all while helping local charities. Residents are encouraged to attend the Burger Battle and cheer on their favorite team. Better yet, attendees can win free burgers for a year or a trip to the Crescent City, New Orleans and Smokey Bones will also donate a percentage of sales during the event to all local charities. During June, they’ll be taking donations for the charities in celebration of their Build Your Own Burger. Last year’s Burger Battle at Smokey Bones raised more than $30,000 nationally. This year, there will be more than double the number of teams competing, with more than 130 groups battling across the country.

Roger Drake, Senior Vice President of Marketing at Smokey Bones Bar & Fire Grill, anticipates big crowds around the country for this year’s Burger Battle night. “It’s a win-win event,” said Drake. “Not only do participants get to have a great time and enjoy delicious tasting half pound Angus burgers during one special evening, but they are also giving back to their communities by raising funds for their local charities. It doesn’t get any better than that.”
